Kirtland Community College is accepting applications for an Assistant Coordinator.
Description
Assist in coordination, maintenance, and operation of the skills lab and simulation center at Kirtland Community College. The individual in this position will provide clinical and laboratory support to Students and Instructors. Additionally, this position will be responsible for assistance in instructional coursework related to simulation, clinical assignments, or other aspects of the program of study.
This position is funded and contracted under a three year federal grant.
Duties

Assists in the development, presentation, and evaluation of scenarios for simulation experiences, utilizing role playing, props and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment.

Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of simulation lab policies, procedures, use, and operation.

Develops schedules for volunteers participating in simulation experiences for students.

Assembles equipment and prepares simulation rooms for student simulations.

Provides tutoring and educational enrichment for nursing students as needed.

Orients instructors in lab procedures, location, and use of materials, and operation of equipment.

Oversees simulation lab information and technology support.

Ensures a safe and healthy work environment, complies with college health and safety policies, practices, and programs in keeping with occupational health & safety legislation and regulation.

Provides support and works to meet the standards of the BSN grant.

Any other duties as may be appropriately assigned or required.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with Nursing Informatics or related credentials preferred.

Current State of Michigan Nurse License

One to three years of experience in simulation and skills lab teaching, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position

Recent medical-surgical experience

Ability to prepare and organize simulation laboratory and demonstration materials

Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical simulation lab equipment, and communicate that knowledge to others as appropriate

Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body

Ability to anticipate and effectively adapt to changes in program requirements and methodology
