Salary: Training salary starting at $20.00 per hour- salary range, based on experience and certification- starting at $22.00 and up, based on industry standards.
Summary of Duties:
The Diesel Service Mechanic for Johnson Oil Company inspects, repairs, and overhauls any equipment with a diesel engine. Part of a service team, the Diesel Service Mechanic contributes to maintenance of the fleet. The fleet includes, but is not limited to semi tractor-trailers, propane delivery, and refined fuel (tank wagon) delivery vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Typical Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles for preventative services and to diagnose repair needs.
- Repair, replace, or maintain vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Inspect vehicle electrical systems and trailer/tank.
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
- Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist.
- Maintain a parts inventory.
- Ensure the shop remains clean.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Possess High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ideally, possess ASE Diesel Certification.
- Demonstrate experience and aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair of vehicles.
- Must be legally able to work in the United States and provide required documentation.
- Demonstrate proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
- Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting the work performed.
- Possess a valid driver's license and perform test drives to gauge performance.
- Demonstrate strong IT and diagnostic skills.
- Organize and prioritize tasks.
- Must be able to safely lift, up to 50 pounds.
