Description
The Senior Learning & Development Specialist leads the development and implementation of Credit Union learning solutions for the organization. This role includes supporting management and Credit Union direction in the learning solutions provided. The role is instrumental in providing learning solutions to all employees in order to increase the organization's effectiveness of staff in performance, member service, and compliance areas.
The Senior Learning & Development Specialist takes initiative and collaborates with all managers and employees to develop, design, and facilitate effective trainings. Each learning solution is developed with the use of contemporary industry methodologies and requires frequent communication with all departments to meet organizational objectives. This position requires consistent research and adaptability to frequent organizational initiatives. A person in this role demonstrates belief and enthusiasm in the mission, values, and services provided to employees and members.
Work Arrangement -This position is able to work hybrid or onsite.
Compensation & Benefits -
Salary Range: $74,000-$90,000+ depending on experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Senior Learning & Development Specialist:
Prepares course schedules with consideration of process, department, and organizational needs and adapts to schedule, project assignment, and classroom changes
Prepares and schedules training classroom, supplies, and technology
Prints and assembles classroom materials
Organizes and tracks training plans, rosters, and schedules
Evaluates department and Credit Union processes and procedures, offering suggestions for increased efficiencies and cost reduction
Provides functional and developmental feedback directly to trainee while gaining understanding that results in performance development
Plans, develops, and implements strategy for organizational development
Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials
Recommends and facilitates blended learning options
Leads in the design of evaluation plans
Consults with L&D managers and employee managers to develop performance improvement measures
Teaches professional development courses at staff and management levels
Creates and delivers training that enhances employees' understanding of complex decisions and processes, improving service to members
Provides assistance to all L&D team members to increase professional development skills
Seeks knowledge of all Credit Union internal operational procedures
Collaborates with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and timeliness of learning solution materials
Provides feedback to management on an ongoing basis regarding learning and development of employee skills, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Supports change initiatives throughout the Credit Union while anticipating employee and member questions
Manages additional department projects and training sessions simultaneously
Corresponds with management to gain approval for project plans and materials
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Senior Learning & Development Specialist:
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Academic/Industry certification required
2+ years of financial industry experience preferred
High level of both written and oral communication skills with the ability to gain understanding
Communicates approachability both verbally and non-verbally
Friendly and confident interpersonal and public speaking skills
Offers assistance to and teaches Learning & Development Specialists I and II
Utilizes work experience and knowledge to further develop training sessions
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins
Selects and uses training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new topics
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Leads, takes charge, and offers opinions and direction
Sets a positive example for Learning & Development Specialists I and II
Establishes and maintains personally challenging achievement goals and works to continuously improve
Knowledge of organizational development methods
Proficient knowledge of existing systems to effectively train employees to work in operational departments
Willingness to take on new responsibilities and opportunities
Takes an inquisitive approach to enhance current procedures and methods to teach
