Description
The Global Head, Discovery and Translational Research for Interventional Oncology, will be accountable for designing and implementing the scientific strategy for Interventional Oncology. This will include the evaluation of external clinical stage assets, the identification and validation of novel targets, the design and implementation of the clinical biomarker strategy and executing on a business plan with clear deliverables and resource needs. The position requires close collaboration with sector partners including Janssen R&D, MedTech, Global External Innovation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Champion external opportunities to accelerate/broaden the strategy by working in close partnership with INTO's External Innovation, Business Development and the Innovation Center network.
Lead a core team focused on the delivery of an Interventional and immuno-oncology pre-clinical and clinical portfolio. Providing immunology and drug discovery expertise to design and implement the scientific strategy and help guide the pharmaceutical development of molecules from pre-clinical through to post phase 1 clinical development.
Lead the design and implementation of a Biomarker strategy to enable Interventional Oncology pipeline, encompassing diagnostic, target engagement and molecular response biomarker development.
Work closely with functional partners to ensure an integrated and strategic approach to flawless execution.
Build and foster cross-sector collaboration with key stakeholders to advance novel drug-device strategies.
Work closely with Janssen Oncology senior leadership to align on portfolio priorities and identify resource needs for priority program execution.
Interact with clinical investigators and Key Opinion Leaders and oversee scientific advisory boards as appropriate to execute strategy.
Qualifications
A PhD., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with at least 12-15 years of experience in Oncology drug discovery, translational research, and/or clinical development is required.
Experience advancing molecules through clinical development (1 st in human)
A strong track record of delivering low molecular weight, RNA therapeutics and biologics programs from discovery through development and biomarker developed in parallel in the pharmaceutical sector.
Strong leadership skills (direct people management and matrix management) with highly collaborative instincts.
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with basic and clinical scientists, including biologists, pharmacologists, as well as with regulatory and senior leaders.
The individual must be able to collaborate well with cross functional groups. They will build teams effectively, inspire followers, instill a global mindset, and champion best practices.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $203,000 to $373,750.
