Job Description
This is a Hybrid position within our Global Customer Experience (GCE) Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. This position requires an employee to be onsite a minimum of 2 day per week, with possible additional days associated with mtg / work need. Remote meetings may require usage of video.
The Role:
The Customer On/Off-Boarding (COB) is an enterprise service layer platform that provides APIs to enroll and enable OnStar services on a customer's vehicle. COB platform is a Global platform that uses microservices and event-driven architecture to choreograph the end-to-end Onboarding and Offboarding Business Process managing vehicle pre-delivery, post-delivery and enrollment and vehicle activation of OnStar services.
Senior Software Engineers on the COB platform team will be responsible for maintaining, delivering, and supporting backend microservices to support GM's Customer On/Off-Boarding process. For this role you will expected to have progressive, demonstrated success in software development experience developing applications using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies. In this role, you will be mentoring, coaching, and training junior developers on the team. Additionally, you may assume the functions as a Lead Developer when needed.
What You'll Do:
Full lifecycle application development using standard frameworks and coding standards/patterns.
Coding, unit testing and debugging applications in various software languages, and automation
Software testing and quality assurance, performance tuning, code improvement, balancing, usability, automation
Integrate and document software code and ensure that technical documentation i.e. configuration guides, install guides meet requirements
Implement localization or globalization of software and microservices
Proactively engage in the remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code/configuration
Design, develop, and deliver global and scalable microservices
Work within a DevOps framework requiring production incident and problem management
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related fields
7+ years of professional software development experience in Java or another object-oriented language creating services (APIs, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design)
Deep understanding and extensive experience using Spring Boot, Oracle/Postgres, SQL DB, Kafka, Pulsar, RESTful API.
Demonstrated experience with test-driven development
Experience with CI and CD pipelines leveraging technologies such as Azure DevOps Server (formerly TFS), Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Artifactory, SonarQube
Experience developing 12-factor microservice development patterns
Experience using Git version control systems doing rebases, merges, and handling merge conflicts
Competency writing basic SQL queries
Strong teamwork focus and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams, and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Kubernetes/Docker, Azure DevOps, Azure Cloud, Azure Event Hubs, Quartz, Apache Spark, Tidal
NoSQL experience with Cassandra a plus
Experience utilizing platform and infrastructure-as-a-service technologies and capabilities and their corresponding services (object store, configuration management, service registries, etc.)
Experience with the ELK stack and dashboarding within Kibana
Solid understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
