Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Senior International Trade Specialist to join our team in Holland, MI.
As a Senior International Trade Specialist, you will:
Manage import and export compliance programs, including "special trade programs" (United States-Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement [USMCA]), customs' partnership programs (i.e., Customs Trade Partners Against Terrorism [C-TPAT], Free And Secure Trade [FAST], Importers Self Assessment [ISA], and Customs Self Assessment [CSA]) and record-keeping programs. Lead global compliance team and compliance initiatives. Lead development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedure manual, training, and internal audit programs. Supports off-shore sourcing initiatives and inbound supply chain programs.
Some of the responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
Develops and implements North America (NA) Compliance Improvement Programs, in line with United States (US) Customs Modernization Act (reasonable care), Bureau of Industry and Security [BIS], Export Administration Regulations [EAR], Department of Commerce [DOC]), and other regulatory agencies.
Assists with and support Global Trade Compliance programs to assure Haworth's compliance with all US and foreign custom regulations.
Evaluates and recommends trade programs such as Duty Drawback, Free Trade Zones (FTZ), and other programs to lead to duty savings.
Assists with and supports Global Trade Compliance programs to assure Haworth's compliance with all US and foreign customs regulations.
Develops and implements internal customs compliance training programs and audits to assure Haworth's compliance with all customs regulations.
Communicates and measures effectiveness of NA compliance programs to maintain department's continual improvement.
Oversees management and communication of international trade data (i.e., Harmonized Tariff Schedule [HTS] classifications) and systems to support all international products and components.
Oversees Haworth's USMCA Certification Program, including policies, procedures, and systems, to support compliance with and timely submission of USMCA certificates.
Oversees C-TPAT certification and on-going security action plan for C-TPAT program for long-term sustainability and partnership compliance.
Develops and facilitates annual country risk and business partner assessments as required to ensure compliance with C-TPAT. Communicates risk results and mitigation plans to upper management as required.
Provides international inbound logistics training for other sectors and areas to improve US import processes.
Do you have these required qualifications?
Bachelor's degree in international business/logistics or equivalent.
Seven years experience in import/export operations, with comprehensive knowledge of international trade regulatory requirements, including one year experience with Haworth or equivalent office industry products and knowledge to classify parts and perform manual USMCA analysis.
Custom's Broker's license
Strong background in international logistics, trade compliance, and export/import operations.
Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
Do you have these preferred qualifications?
Master's degree in International Business/Logistics.
Office furniture industry experience.
Ability to converse in Spanish or French desired.
