Job Description Summary
The College of Business at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Management Information Systems & Data Analytics (MIS) with an anticipated start date beginning in August 2024. Applicants should be able to teach several different MIS and business analytics courses, such as Intro to IS/IT Management, Intro to Business Analytics, Database, Business Intelligence, Cybersecurity Management, etc. The College is particularly interested in applicants with a background in data analytics.
The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in MIS, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related discipline at the time of employment. Teaching and research areas of interest include one or more of the following: business analytics, artificial intelligence for business, business intelligence, data governance, cybersecurity, and related areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Develop and maintain a vigorous, nationally visible research program.
Contribute effectively to both undergraduate and graduate teaching with a student-centric, learner-oriented, experiential approach to instruction.
Participate in department, college, university, and professional service activities.
Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)
Earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited school in Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or similar fields at the time of employment.
Required Experience (minimum requirements)
Evidence of research activity that can lead to the publication of scholarly work in venues appropriate to the field of study.
Desireable Education and/or Experience
Teaching experience in an institution of higher education.
Industrial experience in areas of expertise.
Service activities at higher education institutes or professional organizations such as the AIS.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)
Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and student success.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated skills in business analytics tools.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver an academic course in areas of expertise, in both on-campus and online formats.
Broad knowledge and skills across MIS and business analytics areas to accommodate diverse teaching needs.
Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons from diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of belonging, and fostering a fair, objective, welcoming place to work for persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
