Research Technician (Program Evaluation)

Essential functions (job duties):
Responsibilities
Assist with the development of formative and summative evaluation plans, assist with needs assessments, and provide other research support to inform evaluation plans.
Assist with the development of evaluation procedures/protocols and the development of data collection instruments.
Assist with data management tasks, including the maintenance of databases, data auditing, and web-based data profiles.
Conduct statistical analysis of evaluation data, and assist with drafting reports, presentations, or other deliverable documents.
Assist with day-to-day oversight in program evaluation activities throughout the state of Michigan, including large survey mailing, face-to-face and telephone interviews, focus groups, and so forth; monitor data collection progress. Serve as the primary recorder of project meetings (core planning group, stakeholder group meetings, focus groups).
Assist with proposal grant-writing activities, including conducting literature reviews and other support to assist with designing research methods and data collection and analysis procedures.
Communicate reliably, clearly and effectively with project team members and community partners.
Maintain work plans, task lists, and project calendars on a regular basis and meet deadlines.
Prepare regular updates to Center Director and Managing Director.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required.
Minimum of one year of experience with program evaluation (designing evaluation plan, developing logic models and process flowcharts, developing data collection tools and procedures, and managing program evaluation projects) is highly preferred.
Working knowledge of social science research methods and primary data collection procedures (CATI, web-based surveys, mail surveys, in-person interviews, focus groups, etc.) and practicalities of implementation preferred.
Experience with statistical analyses and quantitative techniques is highly preferred.
Experience collaborating with stakeholders to encourage their active participation in identifying program activities and goals is preferred.
Outstanding communication skills, ability to present effectively to diverse groups and in a virtual format, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be confident communicating through virtual channels with team members and others.
Must be self-motivated and able to initiate and complete tasks independently; strong organizational and problem-resolution skills; detail-oriented. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google products (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Forms, Calendar, etc.).
Ability to effectively utilize software necessary to convert and process data ((e.g. SAS, SPSS, Excel, Access, Dbase, ESRI GIS).
Preferred qualifications:
A Graduate degree, or working towards a graduate degree, is highly preferred.
