Job Details

The Estimator is responsible to compile and analyze financial data and allocate direct and indirect costs to an existing or proposed product and recommend the necessary price for the product to be sold profitably. The Estimator works with Account Managers and Outside Sales Agents to prepare cost estimates for all of the company business. The Estimator must understand the customer requirements and the cost of meeting those requirements within the company capabilities.

Job Summary 

This position is accountable for providing necessary support to the sales department, including customer service, to guarantee accuracy and profitability in proposals for machines, parts, rebuilds and service.  The tasks associated with this position are: 

• Assist in maintaining a database of customer proposals, estimates, and communications.

• Respond to Requests for Proposals, Request for Quotes (RFP / RFQs) and inquiries.

• Analyze proposal requirements and business issues to develop outlines and strategies that leads to a responsive proposal customized to the client's needs.

• Schedule and conduct meetings to clarify RFP requirements and strategy, assign tasks and establish due dates for the return of information to ensure the deadline is met.

• Prepare estimates for all production jobs based on customer specifications as received from Account Managers and Sales Agents

• Responsible for the proposal review/acceptance process of all department heads.

• Research and recommend cost saving potential to management

• Develop templates using the Microsoft Office Software Suite for proposals, quotes, and other forms of typed communication.

• Coordinate or make other changes to material prepared by other staff members used with proposals/quotes.

• Technical liaison to Sales, Purchasing, and After-market services.

Provide support to Contract Management.
