The System Integration Engineer is the engineering lead with Ford vehicle validation, program management and launch teams for on-site support during vehicle launches. They will provide expertise on in-vehicle cybersecurity technologies to the vehicle program and launch teams. They will drive validation, lead issue triage and reporting on status to Program Management and ensure the proper level of cybersecurity engineering support.
The System Integration Engineer will drive the transition from validation into launch. They will provide engineering oversight to vehicle program management and launch teams ahead of production trials on open issues going into launch. They will ensure proper system configuration and part readiness going into early production trials. They will monitor the status of end-of-line and production validation during program launch phases, drive triage and issue resolution, and report out issue status to leadership.
The System Integration Engineer will coordinate with vehicle launch teams to validate plant tooling and ensure proper functionality and interactivity with vehicle, plant, and IT systems. They will be responsible for training cross functional teams on new technologies and their associated tooling, processes, and failure modes.
What you'll be able to do :
Deliver in-vehicle cybersecurity technologies for new model products from late development phase through launch (primarily UPV2 into FDJ and through Job 1)
Serve as subject matter expert, providing technical understanding of system level design and integration to program and launch teams up to CPE, FSIM and other chiefs
Fully engage on late stages of development going into vehicle validation phase, ensuring validation and launch activities are planned and coordinated. Limited engagement early in program may also be required
Represent the Function to the Program, providing engineering leadership, guidance and support in meeting all Program requirements. Maintain program viewpoint/status on system level integration, validation, and launch and regularly report on issues, status and help needed
Proactively identify and address roadblocks to vehicle program deliverables. Work with Management as necessary to remove them
Work closely with EE Systems Engineering, New Models, VO and Program Management to support launch. Interface with the Build Site and other PMTs, assist the Function with BOM validation and part pedigree going into launch
Provide immediate support to triage issues. Drive issue follow-up, root cause and resolution, and report back on any faults/failures occurring at end-of-line
The minimum requirements we seek :
Able to support long-term travel (6-12 months at a time) to support assembly plants during program launches - up to 50% within North America
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to work in high pressure environments
Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple workstreams simultaneously
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science
3+ years of experience with embedded and/or automotive systems
3+ years of experience with in-vehicle network architecture, modules, and protocols (CAN etc.)
3+ years of experience with system engineering, development, and testing
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in product launches, specifically in automotive
2+ years of experience with embedded software development, especially with a security focus
Ability to develop and maintain engineering documentation including requirements, specifications, test plans, etc.
Experience implementing security controls in an embedded (especially automotive) environment
Understanding of architecture, development, design principals
Conceptual understanding of security methodologies and challenges
