Grace Health is looking for a podiatrist to join our growing team! This individual participates in the direction and provision of medical services and maintaining standards of care in the podiatric department. This position will be part-time. 4-16 hours per week.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This may not be all inclusive.)
Review patient's medical history to evaluate the condition of the feet, ankle, and lower leg.
Formulate medical diagnosis of the feet through X-ray examination and interpretation of medical laboratory tests.
Provide direct comprehensive podiatric patient care, including advising patients on ways to increase speed of recovery and prevent future leg and foot problems.
Prescribe medications and orthotics for foot conditions.
Monitor the recovery progress of patients and determine the need for change in treatment.
Refer patients to other specialists for conditions outside of the scope of podiatric practice.
Collaborate with nursing, medical, or other Grace Health staff for comprehensive interdisciplinary management of care.
Assumes leadership and patient advocacy roles for coordinating and communicating patient problems and needs to appropriate health care team members.
Offers training and educational materials to individuals, families or groups in podiatric health prevention, promotion and maintenance.
Participates in quality improvement activities which may include literature review, development of standards of care/protocols, chart reviews, data analysis, and action plans.
Provides the highest quality podiatric care through the utilization or conduction of research in podiatric practice, standard setting, evaluation of care and outcomes, and continuing professional education.
Enhances professional and clinical expertise through appropriate educational activities.
Participates actively in efforts to enhance the role of the Podiatrist and Grace Health in all aspects of patient, community, professional relations.
Conducts medical practice utilizing ancillary and pharmacy services with appropriate cost effectiveness when appropriate.
Participates in peer review activities.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of professional podiatric theory, practice, and care to provide and evaluate patient care.
Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional medicine to provide ongoing patient care.
Skill in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality improvement.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the general public.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines/procedures relevant to medical practice in a FQHC.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine
Experience: Three years of experience in area of specialty preferred
Certificate/Licenses: Current Michigan Podiatric license
Current Controlled Substances License
Current DEA Certificate
Current BCLS certification
