Is accountable for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of the Materials Management Department which includes: ensures compliance of the departmental policies and procedures; assisting in interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation and disciplining of personnel in the department. Manages and collaborates relationships with Surgical Services leadership members, physicians, for the care of responsible equipment and disposables. Facilitates empowerment of staff in the implementation of creative and innovative materials, delivery models and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma. Completion of a medical terminology course is helpful.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Central Service Certification and one year experience in a Central Service environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Visual ability is required when inspecting instruments, reading requisitions and instrument checklists. Extensive walking and standing is a requirement of this position. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and push loaded heavy carts for long distances.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work in harmony with other people and under stressful conditions. Must be able to work in a flexible and changing environment. May be exposed to noisy equipment, aerosols, chemical detergents, needles, blades, sharp instruments, body fluids and tissues, ethylene oxide and its effects, wet floors, steam and a hot and humid environment.
