EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Part-time (up to 29 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position currently varies.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under direction, transports individuals and goods in a safe manner to and from designated sites as assigned; participates in ongoing training requirements; performs pre-inspections and completes necessary paperwork; performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a vehicle in a safe and lawful manner at all time while performing assigned duties.
Transports individuals and goods in a safe manner to and from designated sites as assigned.
Picks up and delivers food and other items as required.
Completes vehicle pre-inspection daily and/or weekly following established guidelines.
Ensures assigned vehicle is clean and in proper operating condition following established guidelines.
Maintains accurate transport records, inspection forms and other paperwork as required.
Checks van on a daily basis for needed repairs.
Makes requests for vehicle repair as needed.
Operates vehicle in a safe manner observing all traffic laws.
Participates in safety training sessions as assigned.
Required to participate in random drug and alcohol screens.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- As a condition of employment, an employee in this classification must obtain and maintain a valid Michigan Chauffeur's license within two (2) weeks of hire
Required Licensure or Certification
- A valid Michigan driver’s license and operable insured automobile for authorized travel
Preferred Education and Experience
- Previous experience transporting individuals or goods
- Previous experience working with senior citizens and mentally/physically challenged individuals
