Our Neurological Health department has a wonderful opportunity for a full time, board certified Vascular neurologist to lead in the role as section chief. Reporting to the division chief of inpatient neurology, the section chief leads a team of six board certified vascular neurologists in a growing program.
The Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids is a leader in stroke care in the state of Michigan and supports outreach to our surrounding regional hospitals. In addition to research opportunities, the position includes teaching in the neurology residency and stroke fellowship with faculty appointments through Michigan State University.
This position is well-supported by APPs and is part of a large inpatient division that includes vascular neurologists, neurohospitalists and neurointensivists. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience, wants to lead and work in a collegial environment and has experience teaching trainees both on and off service.

Essential Functions
Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

Required Bachelor's Degree
