SummaryThe physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients.
Physician, Diabetes/Endocrine:
Examine and make diagnoses for illnesses in the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and hypothalamus glands. Order testing/prescribe medication regarding the glandular system. Perform thyroid biopsy to determine cancer diagnosis. Diagnose/treat Diabetes. Recommend insulin medication, dosing and prescribe insulin pump for appropriate patients. Maintain pump settings and correct dosage. Perform inpatient consults for diabetic and endocrine patients. Supervisory duties to provide training to medical students/residents/fellows.

Basic Qualifications: Education - Medical Degree (MD or DO) in Medicine Licenses - M.D. or D.O. license from the State of Michigan Federal Narcotics License from the State of Michigan Basic Life Support (BLS) Specific to SHMG 120 Days Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Specific to SHMG: ACLS required if stress test is performed or as required by specialty. 120 Days
Essential Functions
Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree
LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
