The Production Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the plant production activities; directly supervise the activities of the front line production employees charged with the performance and verification of production activities throughout the plant to support continuous improvement of the site manufacturing operations to enable manufacturing of products in scheduled quantities, meeting quality targets at the lowest sustainable cost; ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly equipment services and preventative maintenance activities are being completed on schedule to sustain reliable production; communicate directly with the Maintenance Supervisor on normal maintenance service and seasonal planning functions; participate in and/or administer necessary safety training and procedure review with all Production employees; know the Environmental operating permits to ensure daily production practices are always within Environmental compliance; objectively develop and recommend solutions and improvements to production processes.
Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with regulatory agencies are observed by all employees. This includes providing a safe workplace, planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals.
Interface with regulatory agencies as required.
Ensure quality of product during process and adjust production plans to meet customer requirements.
Manage overtime requirements to meet sales, production and maintenance requirements.
Actively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting between maintenance and production
Provide technical and tactical support to the Maintenance Team, Engineering and Production Supervisors
Ensure the execution of the daily production plan. Explains significant variances from the plan and provides leadership for improvements within the operations groups.
Uses the production modules under the SAP system.
Ensure operations personnel perform quality work.
Participate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenance.
Oversee necessary arrangements to keep plant running during breakdowns.
Provide feedback to the maintenance team to support operational objectives.
Provide feedback to the operation team on goals and expectations status.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mining, Business or related field.
2+ years Manager experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment; previous experience as department manager or superintendent for larger facilities would also be a fit; industry background in manufacturing related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants, etc. preferred.
Extensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, continuous manufacturing, and production processes, and working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
Positive & proactive attitude with ability to address issues and implement solutions.
Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behaviour-based management.
Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills.
Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic
Fluency in spoken and written English
Demonstrate ability to lead in a peer environment without an authoritarian role.
Possess skills in system, project and people management and oversee various actives while motivating and guiding others to accomplish common goal.

Follow up investigations working with Safety Committee, and others as needed.
Brief the JHSC, when necessary, on any issues requiring their attention

Preparation and implementation of training plans to provide employees with the necessary training to perform their job safely and effectively.
