FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - overtime paid pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement or Human Resources policy
EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time position (37.5 hours per week) The current starting time for this position varies.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under direction, monitors the implementation of Head Start Program education and child development services; provides resources and support to classroom staff to assure the Federal Performance Standards and all other operating regulations are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors and ensures the implementation of the education goals and objectives of the Head Start Program.
Observes, supervises and evaluates classroom staff and operations.
Coaches and mentors classroom teachers to carry out improvement goals.
Fosters positive relationships with local school districts and community agencies.
Acts as a resource person for developmentally appropriate activities and practices.
Provides staff and program participants with training and information; plans and conducts applicable workshops.
Conducts home visits, when necessary, to ensure that child and family needs are met.
Ensures the classroom is a desirable and suitable environment.
Maintains required written documentation, including but not limited to, classroom operations and staff performance.
Compiles necessary statistical data and completes all necessary and required reports; completes computer data entry using program specific software.
Ensures compliance and monitoring of the Head Start Act, Head Start Performance Standards and Licensing Regulations.
Monitors and oversees State of Michigan licensing requirements, including all inspections, i.e. fire, environmental, lead (if applicable) and Corrective Action Plans.
Ensures education services are integrated with all other service areas.
May participate in the interviewing and selection of Head Start classroom staff.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned job duties.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Development or a directly related field from an accredited college or university

Two (2) years of management/supervisory experience

Working with infants, toddlers and/or pre-school age children
-
Working in a Head Start program.
Required Licensure or Certification
