Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor will be responsible for the operational excellence related to engineering in the assigned area. Key metrics include Safety, Labor Efficiency (Work Instructions, Standard Work & Training), Quality, Delivery & Continuous Improvement. Successful candidate will lead the Manufacturing Engineering Team and be a change agent in the spirit of Continuous Improvement. This individual should be well versed in change management, project management & capital expenditure projects.
Support action items from Tier I, II & III meetings
Lead support teams that may include Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering Techs, Maintenance, Work Instruction Authors
Coach, Mentor and Develop direct reports to create an environment where they can be successful in their roles.
Drive Lean solutions - waste reduction - share successes with other plants around the globe
Identify, support and lead actions for implementing cost improvements/lean projects
Manage projects to develop new technologies & processes
Partner with Supervisors to improve manufacturing-related costs - labor, scrap & design ideas
Implement solutions & drive closure to submissions from the employee driven world class idea program
Creation & maintenance of operator work instructions
Create & implement standard work/line balancing to drive consistency and improve productivity
Lead Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizens)
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods by analyzing and planning work force utilization, space requirements and workflow
Support New Product Engineering and new product launches
Establishment of labor standards and manufacturing methods
Creation of Bill of Material and Routings
Design and procurement of manufacturing tooling, tools, and equipment
Implement process controls to assure products can be manufactured within quality standards
Partner with Quality Staff to develop capable processes - leverage technology & design improvement where possible
Learn Tennant's H.E.A.T. (Hydraulics, Electrical, Adhesives & Torque) Program for best build practices
Maintain a floor presence to show support for the production team and foster positive working relationships
Generate and maintain PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Collaborate with management, engineers and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other items to facilitate effective production processes
Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
Understand future manufacturing requirements. Analyze the need for capital equipment and have the capability to justify the investment(s). Explore new innovative manufacturing processes to establish best practices
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Required Skills:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic CAD capability
Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering OR related field
5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
3 years of experience in rotational molding and/or plastics molding operations
Experience in Continuous Improvement, lean manufacturing and 8 wastes
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on MS Excel
Proven track record of innovation, ingenuity, creativity, attention to detail, ownership, integrity, accountability, and willingness to seek challenging tasks/projects
Experience in root cause analysis & implementation of appropriate corrective actions
Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
Formal Lean Training / Waste Reduction preferred
Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning software
Basic CAD ability

Required Physical Demands:
Must regularly lift and/or moved up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds
Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Regularly required to stand, use hands to grip, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms
Frequently required to walk, talk, and hear
Safety Requirements:
Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and hearing protection
