Overview
This position directly reports to the various quarry supervisors. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. Primary responsibilities include assisting in production functions and maintenance as a Millwright.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
Practice and promote safety in such way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate PPE.
Exercise and encourage core values including but not limited to; developing self and coaching others by inspiration and empowerment.
Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time
Move equipment to appropriate site(s) for repair and/or maintenance
Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation
Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools
Fabricate and assemble structures and equipment through the use of implements such as welders and measuring tools
Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment as required
Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment and areas.
Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION
Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety policies to assure that environmental, health and safety are the first priority
Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist as needed to improve EHS
Communicates effectively and timely with staff
Ensure all work areas are clean, tidy and organized at all times
Trains and coaches other employees when needed
Performs other duties as time permits or as assigned
Results/Accountabilities:
Internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources
Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law
Ability to work independently, self-starter, yet able to participate within a team environment
Ability to operate equipment effectively
Must understand equipment functions and processes of the primary areas
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous surface mining experience preferred but not required
Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
Welding, cutting, and mechanical skills are desired
Haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment
Physical Requirements & Conditions:
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test
Knowledge and Skills:
Able to perform basic math computations
Knowledge of products, industry terminology
Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
Good communication skills - verbal and listening
Detail-oriented
Team-player
Positive, courteous, and helpful approach
Motivated and eager to learn new skills
Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
Additional Requirements:
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
