Summary/Objective
The position of Tool Builder – Helper is responsible for tasks related to the building of assembly tools and fixtures.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for following directions from Tool Builder regarding executing the tool build as represented in the build prints and per the customer requirements.
- Will operate machines including lathes, Bridgeport, lathes, and grinders as needed.
- Does painting and stamping on tools that are in the build phase.
- Knows how to use, maintain, and calibrate hand tools as required.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Measure dimensions of finished product to meet specifications using precision instruments, templets and fixtures.
- Proficient in using hand tools and precision instruments to mount, install, align and secure tool attachments.
- Able to correctly stop machines to remove completed parts or to change tooling, setup or parts placement.
- Skill to review program specifications and/or blueprints to determine and set machine operations, sequencing to include numerical sequencing.
- Effectively monitor machine operation and control panel displays in order to limit the amount of defective product being produced.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, starting at 6:00 a.m. Shifts will be 8, 9, 10 or 11 hours depending on workload. Saturday as needed.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Good math and written communication
Preferred Education and Experience
- Industry experience.
- Experience with overhead crane and hi-lo
- Microsoft Office Suite.
