The weld associate position is responsible for fitting and welding of steel, aluminum and stainless steel parts using a MIG and TIG process. The position communicates with co-workers, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Read job specifications such as blueprints, calipers, and measurements to determine layout and procedures with supervision
- Determine the appropriate equipment and methods based on requirements
- Set up, adjust and operate equipment to fabricate parts to specifications
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
- Ensure work is done safely, consistently and meets quality standards
- Monitor work equipment to ensure usage is within optimum temperature to avoid overheating or expansion
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions to weld structural metal to specifications
- Inspect weld surfaces and structure to ensure accuracy and discover flaws
- Tacks assemblies together
- Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes
- Identify, tag and remove non-conforming materials
- Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner
- Communicate with other departments as necessary
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Adhere to all company rules and policies
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
