The Volunteer Services Assistant shall support the Volunteer Services Coordinator with various volunteer management activities throughout Mary Free Bed. Provide a rewarding experience that is beneficial to the volunteers, employees, patients, and visitors.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, and orients new volunteers as needed. Assigns volunteers to temporary and/or ongoing positions within the hospital.
Encourages and assists department liaisons with the development of volunteer training for positions within their department.
Monitors the ongoing satisfaction with and effective utilization of volunteer placements. Collects feedback from staff and helps to resolve problems or dissatisfaction between the volunteer and department liaison.
Collect feedback from the volunteers to promote program growth and provide opportunities for improvements in the volunteer program.
Maintains volunteer files, applications, references, TB tests and quarterly hours.
Maintain database and provide administrative duties as required.
Organizes and develops ongoing communication to volunteers, such as newsletters or various email blasts.
Assists in organizing the Volunteer Recognition Event, including Volunteer of the Year and Student Volunteer of the Year judging and selection.
Review and revise volunteer policies and practices as needed.
Provide assistance as needed, in all areas of HR including answering phone lines, greeting guests, and triaging requests for information.
Perform similar and related job duties as requested by Volunteer Services Coordinator and HR Leadership.
Responsible for special projects as assigned.
Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
Experience in Volunteer Services, Human Resources, or similar field
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business, industrial relations, or related field or equivalent work experience
Competence in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
High level verbal and written communications skills and ability to multi-task.
High level of service orientation with strong sense of urgency.
Flexibility and adaptability.
Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships.
Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
Demonstrated commitment to organizational mission with a whatever it takes attitude to get the job done.
Outgoing, reliable, driven and desire to work in a team environment.
Physical Demands:
Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time)
Able to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 10 pounds occasionally
Able to sit for the majority of the time but may involve brief periods of time involving walking or standing.
Able to use keyboard frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)
