Do you have One year experience working with youth grades K-12, in an educational setting?
Teaching children coming from diverse and often times traumatic backgrounds who are placed into a shelter setting or foster home as an Unaccompanied Child. Provide educational support services in accordance with applicable contractual and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
$17.50 Hourly or $19.50 Bilingual Spanish and Benefit Eligible
Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support learning and instructional objectives with translation services if bilingual
- Tutor and assist students individually or in small groups to help master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
- Maintain ongoing communication with teachers to coordinate instructional efforts
- Observe student's performance and record relevant data to assess progress
- Assist in presenting subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage
- Supervise Students during lunch, recess and independent learning tasks; transport and supervise students during class outings
- Participate in performance-related goal setting, achievements to meet personal, organization objectives, and goals
- Support the student's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
- Assist with educational assessments, weekly progress reports, conducting weekly group sessions, and educational activity planning as needed
- Report safety hazards and needed repairs to Supervisor
Training, and Licensure/Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of college course work or Associate degree in human services or education field, preferred
- English as a Second Language Certificate, preferred
Experience
- One year experience working with youth grades K-12, in an educational setting
- Experience working with residential youth preferred
- Bi-lingual in Spanish (or the Major language of the youth in care) preferred
- Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current registration and automobile insurance
