Job Description
The Michigan House of Representatives Sergeant-at-Arms Police Agency is currently accepting applications for Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms. This full-time law enforcement position includes dignitary protection of State Legislators, threat assessments and investigations. Predominant work schedule is Monday thru Friday, with weekends and State Holidays off. Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms work under the supervision of the Chief of Police, at the direction of the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
Salary Range: $52,000 starting salary, includes benefits & retirement options.

Required Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
MCOLES certified or certifiable, having a minimum of four (4) years of law enforcement, military, or dignitary protection experience.
Certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR and AED. If certification has expired, re-certifiability is accepted.
An associate degree, with bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
Basic computer and investigative experience.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information.

Leave Time
Full time employees receive 26 vacation and leave days per year

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
