Join our Ascension Borgess Allegan Team as a Health Unit Clerk!
7am-7:30pm 2 days a week with rotating weekends and Holidays
What You Will Do
The Health Unit Clerk will perform general clerical of the nursing unit, unit receptionist duties, ordering and maintaining supplies, transcribing medical orders, as well as other related duties as assigned. The Health Unit Clerk reports to the Resource Nurse, and is accountable to the Director of Inpatient Services.
Act as unit receptionist, abiding by Allegan General Hospital Telephone Answering Standards as outline in AGH Customer Service Standards.
Effectively document and/or communicate all information relevant to patient care.
Responsible for safe equipment use and care.
Responsible for correct lead placement.
Clean equipment between patients: put on gloves, put disinfectant on clean disposable wash cloth, clean telemetry pack with cloth containing the hospital's disinfectant, allow unit to dry, never put disinfectant directly on the telemetry unit.
Validate count of telemetry packs at end of each shift.
Receive notification when a patient changes location, i.e. room change, off the unit for a procedure, etc.
Participate in staff orientation activities and peer support for new Health Unit Clerks.
Demonstrate responsibility for professional growth by attending staff meetings, all mandatory in-services as well as additional education programs.
Participate in performance improvement activities for the unit and the department of nursing.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date, required
Certified Medical Assistant, preferred
Certified Nurse Aide credentialed from the Michigan Nurse Aide Registry, preferred
Education:
- High School Diploma, or GED equivalent, required
