Role and Responsibilities
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas.
- Identify and label materials and record their locations in the warehouse/on the shelves to maintain inventory.
- Perform daily checks on forklift and record all maintenance needed on equipment.
· Assist with putting parts away, re-use any good pallets.
· Ensure that ship out parts are delivered promptly and with proper documentation.
· Consistently keep the forklift loaded and moving parts.
· Be sure no equipment is left outside in inclement weather.
- Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move freight.
- Comply with all safety rules and guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficiency of workflow and material handling.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions/Physical Demands
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and use buddy system or equipment for heavier weights.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
· Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
· Employee is frequently required to used hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
· Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
· Employee is occasionally required to talk or hear.
Work Environment
· While performing the duties of this job, employees may work near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions.
· Employees are exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals
· Noise level in the work environment is usually high.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-5 years of experience driving semi-truck and currently holding a Michigan CDL endorsement.
- Forklift truck certification preferred
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Ability to read. write and to follow instructions, and work independently with little guidance
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and to lift heavy materials
- Ability to operate computers and relevant warehouse management computer software
