What you do:
The Material Planner works with senior management to develop an acceptable set of procedures to purchase and/or requisition materials, while also overseeing the receipt, movement, timely issuance, and disbursement of raw materials as it pertains to their assigned business unit(s) and/or product line(s).
As the Material Planner you:
- Are extremely organized, detail oriented, and can prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Assist with the implementation of consistent planning, scheduling, and resource management processes to meet varying project sizes, scope, and needs.
- Analyze schedule and material use to identify developing problem areas (ex. slow moving and obsolete materials, expedite orders, etc.).
- Lead project planning and schedule/attend daily/weekly review meetings.
- Identify process, productivity, scheduling principles, and other improvements (ex: MRP), and work with/train various levels of the organization to plan and deliver those improvements.
- Work with senior management on quotes and pricing process for outside and internal sales force. Ensuring a 24–48-hour turnaround on all quote requests and sales related inquiries.
- Ensure proper maintenance of vendor database (ERP System) with standardization in mind.
- Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability. Alerts affected departments of changes in material availability (i.e., damaged, or missing materials).
- Works with Materials and/or Consumption Coordinator to manage and direct material use based upon disposition status and shelf life, using FEFO (First Expired First Out).
- Miscellaneous duties and projects assigned as needed.
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (i.e. Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, etc., with preference for Supply Chain) and/or 4 years’ experience in purchasing, material management, and/or inventory control and actively pursuing a related degree.
- APICS certification (preferred)
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Dynamics AX, or ERP software. (preferred)
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment. (preferred)
