Summary:
This integral member of the team uses a mix of written and technological creativity to identify, research, and write content for collateral materials, presentations, advertorials, news releases, the web, social media, and other electronic devices. Additionally, the multimedia journalist will post information to Mary Free Bed sites, shoot/edit still photos and video, and be the Mary Free Bed's liaison with the news media.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Writing
External Markets
Identify potential Mary Free Bed stories for multiple audiences and mediums
Interview patients, families, and clinical professionals
Write content for collateral materials, news releases, advertorials, website, and social media
Proof and edit articles for clinical publications
Internal
Manage and compile employee newsletter
Coordinate the front page of internal website
Visual Material
Work with Mary Free Bed photojournalist to shoot and edit still photos and video
Use desktop and graphic design software to create content and post
Create and maintain extraordinary relations with the media.
Primary focus on local, regional and state media
Cultivate relations with reporters and editors in the Midwest and at national levels
Respond in a timely and truthful manner to media inquiries
Cultivate innovative story ideas, write news releases and contact reporters. Include video and photos on all releases.
Increase the number and scope of Mary Free Bed media stories
Support department special events and projects
Other duties as assigned

Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
Bachelor's degree in writing, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field.
Five years of experience in related field
Previous healthcare experience
General knowledge of rehabilitation service and principles of marketing and sales
Demonstrated writing skills for multiple mediums
Skills to explain, interpret, and present technical/medical information in lay terms
Ability to write technical/medical information for professionals
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in conjunction with a team of professionals for problem solving
Whatever it takes attitude, strong work ethic, and highly creative
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
Physical Demands:
Able to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time)
Able to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 35 pounds occasionally
Able to sit for the majority (1/3 - 2/3) of the time, but may involve brief periods of time involving walking or standing.
Able to use keyboard frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)
Other Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience in reporting, communication, marketing, public relations, desktop and electronic publishing software, page layout and multi-media software. Basic understanding of graphic design.
