Promote team work and convey a genuine interest in supporting the lean production philosophy. Maintain acceptable levels of performance as measured against work cell benchmarks. In addition, provide input relative to continuously improving the overall production performance of the work cell. You will be held accountable for knowing, understanding, and adhering to the Escalation Policy designed for this position.
Setup and operate an upsetter and associated equipment to gather, form, pierce, trim and punch pre-heated solid bars of various sizes and lengths. Rotate into the Forge/Die Crib area and perform related duties: assemble dies in die blocks, locate punches in punch nose holders and make necessary adjustments to make complete die setup. Make alterations on dies when necessary by grooming, contouring, finishing and grinding.
Work in conjunction with area team leader and supervisor to maintain standards of production. Ability to effectively communicate, plan, organize and problem solve is essential. Assist and train fellow team members when required.
Operator will be required to setup machine by using prints, routers and standard work instructions. While operating machine, use of standard gaging devices, such as “seat to back”, templates, vernier, scale and other various gages are required. Operator is also required to polish dies periodically. Perform necessary duties in the forge/die crib relative to: maintain records; provide setups; keep inventory; request replacements; perform inspection; dismantle, clean and store returned dies; groom and finish; ensure specification of tools; and assist in setup of machines and equipment.
May lift, load and unload parts up to 30 pounds, using proper material handling techniques, approximately 400-500 times per shift, per day. Work may be performed in a standing position for long periods of time. Ability to read, comprehend work instructions/inspection requirements and document the same at required frequencies. Ability to operate hand gauges per work instructions/blueprints. Possess basic computer skills required to perform routine tasks. Ability to work overtime.
