CTG is seeking to fill anOpen BMC Developeropening for our Fortune 100 client.
Location: Austin, TX, or Rochester, MN preferred but any US location ok
The Open BMC Developer is responsible for designing, developing and testing Linux userspace applications to support the OpenBMC project for IBM power systems servers and the OpenBMC Community in general. This is an open-source development effort in support of delivering the BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) firmware for the IBM Power Systems servers.
Key skills include:
3+ years experience in C++ based Linux/Unix application development (however, we would entertain some sharp new college grads that have at least some relevant school or intern/coop experience in Linux open source application development).
Computer science fundamentals are critical: For example, knowledge of data structures, software engineering concepts, object oriented design concepts and multi-threaded application development are important.
Strong C++, git/gerrit, github, crash dump analysis, debug, D-Bus, scripting languages (shell, python), build (meson/cmake) and test processes and tools (gtest/autotools), continuous integration (CI) testing, gcc/glibc, bitbake, non-graphical editors (vi, emacs, etc.)
Familiarity with developing in the open-source community environment using mailing lists, discord, gerrit reviews. Collaboration with other companies such as Intel, Facebook, Google, etc. is expected.
Familiarity with Yocto, Open-Embedded, SystemD opensource projects which OpenBMC uses
OpenBMC open source project experience a strong plus
Familiarity with key Industry standards thru the dmtf.org. Specifically Redfish and/or PLDM (Platform Level Data Model) specifications/APIs
Embedded systems experience a plus
Code on github.com/OpenBMC opensource
Strong soft skills: communications, collaboration skills
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group is required.
