Ensure assigned projects are complete on time and to specifications. Including optical design and analysis, cost analysis and feasibility.
Understand and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Ensure documentation of engineering work is complete and compliant with ISO requirements.
Research new technologies, new materials and new designs.
Develop concepts, drawings, charts, and optical simulation reports as required.
Maintain high level of accuracy between Optical Simulation and actual measured photometric results.
Coordinate testing and validation of products through internal and external testing facilities.
Solve issues and implement changes using Corrective Actions and Engineering Change Notices.
Effectively communicate and work with other departments, customers, and suppliers.
Resource for all departments relating to optics and optical design
Lead Designers and Detailers through optical design.
Able to travel nationally and/or internationally up to 25% of the time.
Able to read and follow SoundOff Signal Work Instructions.
Able to perform job consistently and without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
Bachelors Degree required.
Effective communication skills.
Computer skills - Windows Office Suite.
CAD Software packages (Ansys Speos, Ansys Workbench, Other Optical design and simulation packages, SolidWorks experience a plus).
Manufacturing Processes understanding (injection molding, coatings, stampings).
Technical training, i.e., SAE lighting requirements, LED properties, properties of plastics, DFMEA.
Understanding of tool design level for appropriate optical grade components and electronic assembly.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing many projects simultaneously.
