DUTIES
Employees in this class series perform and oversee a variety of cooking and food preparation tasks for residents of state facilities. Cook 7 functions as a lead worker overseeing the work of less-skilled kitchen helpers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum 18 years of age.
- One (1) year of experience in quantity food preparation, such as could have been attained in a hotel, restaurant, institution, or similar setting.
In addition, an applicant must have acceptable vision, hearing, and general good physical health, and pass a drug screen.
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
