Position Summary:
Michigan State University Extension 4-H Presque Isle County invites applicants for the position of 4-H Summer Recreation Program Youth Instructor. These staff would each work 27 hours per week. This person works under the direction of the Summer Recreation Program Director and the oversight of the 4-H program coordinator. Youth instructors are responsible for guidance and interaction with up to 60 youth program participants. There are three positions available. Youth instructors would be hired on about 6/5/2023; allowing for training time during the week prior to the program start date with youth.
Position Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to lift and carry educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge, and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques, which reflect an understanding and awareness of social, cultural and economic diversity of the target population served.
- Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to diverse audiences/communities and proven ability in establishing and working with a diverse network of constituents and community members across race, color, gender, national origin, gender identity, religion, age, height, weight, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, veteran status, socioeconomic class, and other differences.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Other skills and/or physical abilities required to perform duties of the position.
