23rd Circuit Trial Court in Mio has an opening for a Trial Court Clerk. This position is under the supervision of the Court Administrator and Head District Clerk. The position involves criminal, civil, and traffic caseload processing, collections, document filing, and various other clerical tasks.
Typical Duties:
- Maintain court records in compliance with MCR 8.119 and other applicable Court Rules.
- Process case files in compliance with Case File Management Standards.
- Open, maintain, and close court files.
- Operate computer terminal to enter, access, and modify case information.
- Schedule court hearings.
- Review files prior to court proceedings to ensure files are prepared for court.
- Prepare court forms, case related documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Receive and receipt filing fees, fines, court costs, restitution, and other court ordered monies.
- Process requests for case information, court records, court policies and procedures, and other public information.
- Prepare reports.
- Process collections.
- Prepare weekly deposits and transmittals to the County Treasurer.
- Cross train with other District Trial Court Clerks to provide backup coverage.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Court Administrator or Presiding Judge.
- Responsible for recording all court proceedings in accordance with state standards.
- Notice and make payments to jurors for any and all District jury trials.
Essential Job Functions

- Visually scan, review and read legal pleadings to ensure completeness.
- Use standard voice telephone system for communication with the general public.

- Access service window to interact with public and court users.
Qualifications
- Education: High school graduate. Additional course work in related fields is desired.
- Experience: Experience in court environment, law office, collections or closely related office setting which would provide a working knowledge of court operations and procedures.
- Computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, OneNote).
Certification or Licensure
- Criminal history record check/Fingerprinting.
- Comply with Model Code of Conduct for Court Employees.
