About the Role
This role will manage direct material component spend and technical roadmap alignments with key suppliers that includes sourcing activities for the Semiconductor category and report into the global Power and Audio category director. This person needs to support driving technical supplier roadmap alignments for HARMAN's future success for new areas in automotive, developing and executing cost savings initiatives working to meet corporate savings goals by executing year on year price and capacity negotiations as well as managing and leading VA/VE efforts to optimize spend in assigned categories. This person will support NPI initiatives and work with engineering on design-to-cost activities and execute strategies with the purpose of winning new business.
What You Will Do
Global procurement responsibility of a Semiconductor category, to manage direct & LOA spend and share awards for the entire supply chain with chipset suppliers
Responsible for the introduction of the chipsets across Harman products from design phase until EOL / Service in coordination with engineering, Best Cost analytics, and Customer Business Units via Category strategy
Responsible to manage and make critical decisions on all aspects of supplier relationships including contracts, commercial/pricing, supply assurance, and conflict resolution
Establish strong supplier relationships, effectively manage category supply base, perform advanced and intricate negotiations, and use event-driven cost reductions to meet annual cost reduction goals
The role requires a sophisticated level of relationship management interfacing with global suppliers and internal stakeholders
Responsible to drive the technology roadmap engagement with strategic suppliers and Engineering to deliver these technologies in Harman products to meet the time-to-market and cost objectives of the business
Identify and evaluate market changes and new technologies - make appropriate fact-based recommendations for adoption by HARMAN stakeholders
What You Need
University degree in Engineering or Business Administration or related degree
Minimum 5 years of direct procurement experience
Commodity sourcing and negotiating direct materials using strategic category management techniques to achieve results
Proven ability to lead and achieve cost, quality, and time-to-market commitments
Strong negotiation, project management, and relationship-building skills
Ability to gather relevant information systematically; consider a broad range of issues or factors; grasp complexities and perceive the relationship among problems or issues
Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills; effective team player committed to organizational goals
Strong Excel knowledge - willing to work in excel; good knowledge of SAP R/3 and MS Office
Fluent English skills (written and verbal)
What is Nice to Have
Prior experience in semiconductors technologies
Automotive (OEM or 1st tier) experience
Strategic and Project purchasing experience
German language knowledge
