Summary:
The role of the Community Relations Specialist is to ensure coordination of operations between Covenant Visiting Nurse Association and hospitals nursing homes, assisted living facilities, physician offices and community organizations. The Community Relations Specialist works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care personnel to assist in the growth of our agency's census and acquire referrals from the health care community. Demonstrated excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
Responsibilities:
- Expands the visibility and understanding of the CovenantVNA through community education, personal contact with physicians, hospitals, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities and the health care community.
- Maintains liaison with community organizations.
- Works with all managers in preparing special brochures and other multimedia materials needed to explain all programs and services.
- Provides consultation to all program managers assisting in the expansion or enhancement of their programs.
- Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin.
- Develops and implements marketing plan, in conjunction with other team members as appropriate,to support strategic plans of the Covenant VNA including measurable goals and objectives.
- Establishes new customers—includes telephone prospecting, cold calling and client sales referrals.
- Maintains weekly call log for all accounts.
- Creates and maintains standing appointment schedule.
- Acquires and maintains knowledge of home health/hospice/DME/infusion services and regulations.
- Visits all accounts and evaluates needs on anongoing basis.
- Develops and maintains database of marketing information.
- Takes a lead role in planning and implementing corporate events, community speaking engagements, job and health fairs and/or presentation of special projects.
- Delivers DME as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by Director, Manager and Lead.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree requiredin Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, healthcare management or related field.
- Two years' experience in Community Education/Community Relationspreferred.
- In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, ten (10) years of sales or marketing required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Previous experience in health care field. Knowledge of health care terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills,commitment to excellent customer service, effective time management, and organizational skills, ability to work independently, and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and programs.
- Must have reliable working vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Frequent talking and hearing.
- Frequent lifting 0 – 25 lbs.
- Occasionally standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, fingering, handling, feeling, near and far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color and field of vision.
- Occasionally lifting 25-100 lbs.
