Our Company is seeking a full-time SolidWorks Detailer to join our team. The chosen candidate will manage their time well, stay organized, and take pride in their work. Additionally, they will have experience with SolidWorks doing modeling and detailed drawing packages. Experience with manufacturing, metal fabrication, an/or construction would benefit a candidate such that they could conceptualize projects and determine critical dimensions, tolerances, and other relevant information. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create technical drawings, manufacturing schematics, and 2D and 3D digital models of mechanical equipment designs, using measurements, specifications, and additional data from the engineering team,
- Collect initial drawings, calculations, and design ideas from engineers, and combine all relevant data into coherent and complete initial design models for review and modification.
- Provide support to engineering team as needed by creating technical drawings and digital models within deadlines and utilizing multiple methods to ensure deliverables include all relevant design details.
- Coordinate directly with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices.
- Annotate and verify all numerical designations and specifications in technical drawings and schematics, using both CAD programs and manual calculations when necessary.
- Assist in ongoing projects to standardize and unify design document standards by participating in meetings and preparing presentation materials as necessary.
- Must comply with all company (and customer) safety and personnel policies, adhere to OSHA safety standards. Support and participate in activities that enhance a safety culture at the site.
- Must work quickly, productively, and safely without error to meet the goals set by management.
- Ability to develop structural (i.e., layouts, plans, elevations, sections & details) drawings within many aspects of manufacturing, including conveyors, cranes, storage facilities, etc.
- Develop detailed drawings of mechanical equipment and supporting structure according to engineering sketches and specifications.
- Work as a checker to review drawings for fabrication and perform material take-offs.
- Ability to understand company and customer standards.
- Occasional travel to company and/or customer sites to collect design information.
- Perform other duties assigned from time to time by management team.
Education:
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or progressively responsible drafting and design experience of which two (2) years were in a project or system capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Requirements
- Must be proficient with SolidWorks modeling and drawings.
- Requires well-developed mechanical drawing skills, including proper drafting, dimensioning (GDT), and tolerance techniques.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and be a self-starter.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to process information and make decisions under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates understanding and support of company initiatives and direction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of drafting design experience required, Professional Certification in Mechanical Drafting.
- Practical understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Experience with manufacturing processes: fabrication
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as dictated by operations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems.
- Strong work ethic.
- Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
Physical Requirements:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Work is mostly performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- The performance of this position will require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
- Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 20% of time.
