The Field Automation Technician position is a ‘work in the field’ position, traveling to customer locations to provide service, maintenance, and installation on and of their equipment. This individual will use technical skills to troubleshoot issues when they arise to make and keep the customer’s equipment functioning properly. A Field Service Technician not only ensures the equipment is installed and working properly, but also manages customer relationships to boost customer retention and satisfaction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Comply with all company (and customer) safety and personnel policies and adhere to OSHA safety standards. Support and participate in activities that enhance the current safety culture at the site.
- Travel up to 50% of the time at times of project implementation and could require extended stays at various locations during those times.
- Work weekends and overtime when needed.
- Complete work according to written and or verbal instructions, including direction as set forth.

- Requires general knowledge of digital control concepts such as analog and digital inputs and outputs, sequences of operations, point addressable devices, closed loop and supervisory feedback systems, device programming, serial communications, and computer networking.
- Requires general skill in analyzing control system malfunctions and determining appropriate repairs. This includes troubleshooting system controller boards, devices, sensor wiring, control wiring, general input and output wiring, and network/communications wiring.
Mechanical Abilities:
- Use of technicians' tools such as electric meters, hand tools, light power tools, panel punches.
- General methods of electrical equipment installation
- Requires advanced abilities in use of a PC and application software
- Low Voltage Control Wiring
- Panel Building
- Electrical CAD preferred
- Perform equipment start up and verification, both on site and at the customer site
- Perform other duties assigned from time to time by management team.
- Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic aptitude a plus.
- Working knowledge of industrial controls devices including photo-electric sensors, proximity switches, solenoid valves, frequency and servo drives, and PLC I/O.
- Advanced knowledge in reading schematic drawings, machine prints, ladder logic.
- Manufacturing experience desired
Required Experience and/or Education:
- 1-3 years of experience with high-speed machines or other automated equipment
- AutoCAD skills
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds

Starting Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 per year based on your skills and experience.

- Manage and coordinate with sub-contractors.
- Approve expense reports.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time by management team.
Essentials for the Role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years’ related experience as a project engineer, process engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer or related occupation.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Strong technical skills in essential business programs, such as: AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, MS Office Suite.
- Skilled in working within a team environment among a diverse group of individuals in varying occupations and varying skill levels.
