Position Summary:
The Director of Security & Compliance directs, guides, implements, and oversees the administration of an effective professional security and safety program to provide a safe and secure environment for Guests, Team Members, and Company assets. Directs and manages casino internal controls, internal audits, and policies and procedures within the compliance department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino's "Unsurpassed Service" standards at all times.
Responsible for the management of the departments to ensure excellent guest service, obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations, and maximize profits and property presentation pursuant to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for various quality control reviews and monitoring in the area of BSA, AML, Patriot Act, Customer Identification Program compliance, financial and data fraud, IT forensics, audit and risk management using industry standards and regulatory guidance sampling methods to ensure compliance efforts are maintained; maintains explicit authority to oversee, monitor, and coordinate the AML program.
Conducts research of individual regulatory-related matters (i.e., practices, proposals, etc.), identifies and communicates regulatory compliance, deficiencies, or potential problems, and provides guidance in the development of alternative solutions or implementation of corrective action.
Responsible for ensuring all required regulatory reporting is conducted in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner, including the filing of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), and procedure reporting.
Manages risks associated with Title 31 including resolving compliance related to regulatory, internal, and external audit findings, and recommendations.
Responsible for the review of Responsible Gambling Policies and Procedures as well as due diligence associated with reinstatement requests from patrons that have previously self-banned.
Coordination of Tribal Gaming Commission audits relating to gaming operation including review of the final report and assisting departments on management responses to TGC final report findings if any.
On an "ad hoc" basis, review certain proposed department Policies and Procedures prior to submission to the Tribal Gaming Commission.
Ensures all policies and procedures, laws, Tribal Gaming Commission regulations, and internal controls are enforced. Responsible for maintaining accurate, thorough, and confidential internal security and personnel investigations as directed.
Establish a working relationship with tribal, local, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies and emergency services.
Coordinate with local law enforcement regarding illegal activities occurring on the property.
Direct emergency management during emergencies.
Provides immediate response and direct internal investigations. Stays current with best practices in effective security operations and participates in continuing education opportunities to maintain knowledge of and compliance with laws and regulations.
Responsible for the development and implementation of organizational goals, business strategies, policies, and operational plans/budgets.
Responsible for all employment-related actions, including hiring, termination, and evaluation of Team Members.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Five years of law enforcement at the sergeant level or equivalent experience of a minimum of five (5) years as a Security Manager and/or Director for a property that comprises at least 750 team members.
Ten years experience in Compliance or Governmental Affairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Casino experience required .
Ability to communicate effectively with Guest, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form.
Proven experience and in-depth comprehensive knowledge in security, investigation, loss prevention, safety awareness, and risk management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to relate well with all levels of the organization; strong listening and critical thinking skills.
Must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or other computer and HR Software.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
Proven experience with maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
Demonstrated prior success with leading staff in the development of departmental goals.
Ability to evaluate courses of action and reach sound, non-judgmental management decisions, and resolutions.
Ability to obtain a PMO Gaming License, Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM), valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
Strength to subdue person(s). Must be able to run after suspects, stamina to climb stairs, sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time. Must be able to drag an unconscious person during an evacuation.
Requires an acute sense of smell and sound, ability to talk on and hear a two-way radio and telephone.
Further physical requirements include, but are not limited to, standing, kneeling/crouching, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, grasping, and reaching.
Work Conditions;
Work is typically in an area, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain second-hand smoke. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 ft. wide access. Tasks performed from a sitting or non-sitting position. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of the assigned area. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.
