National Salvage & Service Corporation is an industry leader and a growing company. We are seeking an electrician/mechanic to work at our Lincoln Power Station, an 18MW wood-fired power generation facility. Responsible for installing, maintaining, testing and repairing facility electrical equipment, control circuits and devices, in most cases without direct supervision as well as proper maintenance and operation of complex systems and equipment that can directly affect the safety and operation of the Facility.
DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for routine and emergency maintenance activities of plant electrical, instrumentation and mechanical equipment.
Perform installation of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance in accordance with local and national codes.
Maintain records of readings, test results, and data on all assigned equipment and during overhauls and preventive maintenance.
Coordinate daily work activities and equipment status with other plant employees.
Recommend equipment operating and/or maintenance changes that will enhance plant performance, equipment availability and reduce cost.
Assist with the electrical training for facility personnel.
Troubleshoot equipment problems and take the proper actions necessary to correct problems and maximize plant reliability and efficiency.
Responsible to immediate supervisor to ensure environmental quality in the workplace and to immediately report to the supervisor any known or suspected violations to the environmental program or any situation they suspect could lead to a violation.
Responsible to maintain confidentiality of all information available to the position.
Ability to use a personal computer.
Acts as a team member with all employees of National Energy, Lincoln, MI.
Complies with all Site policies and procedures.
POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
May be assigned further responsibilities including, but not limited to, housekeeping and administrative items as deemed appropriate by the Maintenance Manager Develop and fabricate special tooling, rigging equipment and replacement parts for plant equipment as required. Perform any combination of the following duties in welding, brazing, cutting, thermal and arc cutting/welding as required.
SAFETY:
Responsible for knowing and following plant safety procedures and reporting any unsafe condition or act to the Maintenance Manager.
Must have and maintain a valid driver-s license and be insurable under the Company-s auto insurance program.
Required to have a telephone; may be required to be on call as needed and may be required to work overtime as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Manager.
Responsible for maintaining a professional and positive attitude, courteous behavior, initiative, motivation and cooperation.
Capable of learning to operate front-end loader to move fuel, unload and store product as required.
Carries out other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally; communication skills are essential. Must be able to personally respond to plant emergencies. Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalency and three (3) years- experience in related position.
Completion of vocational technical program in a related field.
Must be capable of physically demanding work at heights and with adverse conditions during operations.
Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space.
Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. of weight.
Must have eyesight corrected to 20/40 to accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges.
Must be physically capable to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
Must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication.
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. National is an equal opportunity employer
