POSITION PROFILE:
The purpose of this position is to help production produce the best quality product at the lowest possible cost.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage new product implementation projects. Coordinates APQP activities with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Safety, Suppliers and Manufacturing for on-time, on-budget product launch. Assures the integrity of manufacturing processes is maintained and improved after program launch by developing checks/controls.
Review new and current manufacturing processes for inherent quality capabilities and recommend improvements. Frequent interface with engineering, operations; marketing, sales, customers and suppliers in establishing quality standards for Knoll product. Direct quality analysts and technicians in implementing new quality programs. Trains functional associates in SPC and assist in SPC implementation and blueprint reading.
Perform machine and process capability analyses.
Investigate non-conformance to requirements and recommend corrective action.
Supports quality management through integration of quality systems and techniques with product engineering.
Performs the calibration and maintenance of monitoring/measuring equipment. Also calibrates and maintains instrumentation required for such activity and documents the results. Determine and appraisal of measuring equipment requirements
Participate in PD design/drawing reviews. Review Product Engineering drawings for manufacturability and inspectability.
Provides statistical/technical support to Knoll cross functional teams.
Support field problem analysis and participate in corrective action.
Auditor for ISO 9000 / 14000. Participates in safety and ergonomic improvements and follows safety rules.
Participates/ facilitates cross functional Quality Teams. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Technical Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Technical Experience: Must pass color test and read and interpret blueprints. Advanced computer skills necessary.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS.
Industry Experience: Minimum three years in a QE function. Eight to ten years practical manufacturing experience. Experience in participation/facilitation of cross functional teams.
