Job Description Summary
The Value Stream Manager (VS Manager) will report to the Director of Manufacturing Operations. The Value Stream Manager directs and oversees all of the value-added activities in the production assembly and machining manufacturing processes with an emphasis on the technical aspects of the process. While overseeing these activities, the VS Manager is also responsible for the application of lean tools including value stream mapping, 6S, process mapping, flow methods (pull, kanban), SMED, standard work and visual management, etc. This position is essential in developing a culture of continuous improvement to meet and exceed operational goals and objectives. In this role, the VS Manager is responsible for planning, controlling and coordinating the entire range of manufacturing activities within the Value Stream including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity in support of budgetary and customer requirements. The Zone Leaders will report directly to the assigned VS Manager.
The duties and responsibilities of the position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create current state and future state value stream maps in order to develop and manage a plan to arrive at the future state
- Identify and reduce value stream waste, improve quality, productivity and reduce lead times in a culture of continuous improvement
- Responsible for performance to company and operational goals in the areas of 6S, Quality, Delivery Inventory, Productivity and Cost
- Troubleshoot 100% of all line down part quality and process quality issues in collaboration with appropriate resources and expedite repairs as required with identification of root cause and countermeasures to ensure customer satisfaction
- Manages and mentors Zone leaders and hourly employees in the manufacturing of company products
- Provide an adequate work force ensuring all employees are properly trained for their position in order to meet or exceed customer needs
- Prepare operational reports as required
- Develop and manage performance to departmental budgets
- Write ECR's, quality alerts and updates to work instructions as required to support value stream operations
- Maintain conformance with company rules and regulations
- Aligns with the Safety Manager to provide a safe work environment and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations regarding environmental, OSHA, and workers' compensation
- Ensure adherence to run rates
- Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance; rewarding, disciplining and recommend change status as appropriate for all value stream resources
- Work with value stream resources to develop goals and objectives as well as career development plans
- Lead daily value stream production meetings
- Follow all established ISO/Quality procedures and participate in continuous improvement.

Requirements:
- Work Experience: Seven years leading or supervising lean manufacturing activities within an organization
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing applications and concepts; Knowledge of ISO 9001 systems; Knowledge of machining and assembly operations in a manufacturing environment; Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals; Ability to write standard documentation
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Business Operations
- Computer Skills: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel);
- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently and effectively; Strong supervisory, leadership and team building skills; Ability to instruct, coach, and mentor others in lean philosophies and Kaizen events; Ability to 'get things done' with respect to finding and implementing continuous improvement activities; Ability to meet deadlines; Ability to generate and update value stream maps;
