Job DescriptionStaff Accountant----------------------Summary:This accounting position holds general ledger responsibility coordinating with other members of the accounting staff as needed, maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and complying with established policies and procedures.This position also plays a key role in the analysis of PCG accounts, the preparation of budgets and the analysis of related costs and variances.Job duties will vary and will be assigned or modified as needed. This position reports to the site Controller but will be responsible for interfacing with other personnel as needed and may take direction from other senior managers.While this position has no direct supervisory responsibility, she/he will provide technical direction and training to junior staff as needed and report activity to her/his supervisor on a regular basis.Duties and Responsibilities:•Support maintenance of the general ledger for each PCG business unit.•Identify the need for and propose amounts for new recurring journal entries; monitor existing recurring journal entries.•Perform account reconciliation/analysis, accruals/deferrals and related journal entries; assure required adjustments are posted.•Support month-end closing follow checklist and perform tasks to assure that closings are completed on a timely basis.•Review error reports and assure that corrections are made, and statements are in balance.•Provide account/transaction detail to authorized operations personnel as requested.•Run, distribute and prepare monthly financial statements/reports.•Assure that Odyssey modules are closed monthly on a timely basis.•Assist in the preparation of monthly consolidating statements, trial balances and other reports.•Track metal consumption, melt loss, scrap, etc. and prepare/maintain analysis of metal utilization efficiency, including metal consumed per standard lb. per unit, melt loss and scrap loss % and prepare monthly analysis of profit/loss on metal.•Analyze energy costs and estimate/track energy used in production vs. non-production, including impact of seasonal variations; determine direct energy cost per unit per job.•Periodically review routings to determine that standard costs are up-to-date and accurate.•Maintain the perpetual inventory of finished goods and work-in-process inventories, and related costs; update costs, adjust monthly and prepare related journal entries.•Coordinate physical inventory adjustments and postings with Production Control.•Identify cost trends and opportunities for savings throughout the PCG division via participation in regular cost analyses.•Prepare special reports and complete special projects as assigned.•Perform additional month-end tasks per month-end closing schedule which may change from time to time.•Provide various schedules, documents and analyses as necessary for internal and external audits, including bank audits.Position Requirements:Experience and educational requirements may vary for this position but will generally include a bachelor's degree in accounting with 5 or more years of related experience. Professional certification (CPA, CMA) is a plus. This position requires an aptitude for business math and accuracy and a willingness to work beyond 40 hours per week when needed.
