Job Description:
This position is responsible for organizing and controlling the Final Inspection & Assembly department, processes, and products to ensure maximum utilization of plant equipment, manpower, and material to attain the highest levels of quality and maximum productivity in a safe and effective manner in support of organizational goals and objectives. Supervises 10-15 Inspector / Assemblers, manages work prioritization and finished product output of a low volume / high mix factory manufacturing highly custom, precision Aerospace components and assemblies
Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:
Supervise department personnel to ensure work performance and adherence to company rules and administers disciplines in a fair and consistent manner.
Develop, train, and supervise an effective shop organization.
Implement and maintain production control schedule.
Ensure the quality of the work coming from their department.
Follow AS-9100 practices and procedures.
Ensuring that the proper documentation of travelers and MRR's are maintained.
Implement planning, organizing, and control procedures.
Ensure established goals for productivity, scrap, and rework.
Communicate with other departments regarding methods, procedures, equipment and tooling requirements, meeting quality standards, marketing, and delivery requirements.
Utilize 5S approach in your department while ensuring safety at all times.
Seek improvements for cost reductions through implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices and make recommendations to your supervisor.
Communicate, encourage, and motivate employees in support of departmental objectives.
Initiate maintenance requests for machine repair and reports unsafe conditions for repair; ensure timely repair.
Prepare and maintain necessary reports and paperwork and ERP system.
Coordinate with Human Resources to maintain proper levels of trained staff.
Meet with employees and/or union representatives to resolve grievances, problems, etc.
Requirements:
Associates/Technical Degree preferred.
Three to Five years of production supervision experience in close tolerance manufacturing environment.
Possess a strong understanding of turning, milling, heat treat, grinding, inspection and assembly processes.
Possess strong technical and mechanical aptitudes.
Comprehensive communication skills in the English language both verbal and written.
Ability to read blueprints, and knowledgeable in shop math and manufacturing procedures essential.
Proven experience and success in leadership roles.
Experience with precision electronic and analog gauging equipment such as CMMs, surface topography systems, and micrometers required.
Background in Tool & Die making is a plus
