Fiscally sound for decades, East Grand Rapids employs 76 regular full and part time employees who function in an interdependent and customer/client driven culture. The 2021 General Fund Budget is $13 million with enterprise funds adding another $5.6 million. The total annual budget is $27.7 million. A dedicated road millage is set at 1.8 mills.
Following the retirement of its long-time city manager, East Grand Rapids is in the process of seeking its next executive. Only life-long learners with facilitative problem-solving skills and the ability to look toward the future, keeping the city on the cutting edge of innovation and constituent responsiveness, will be considered for this opportunity. East Grand Rapids will offer a competitive salary and benefit package. The starting salary will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of its next executive. The range for the city manager position is $100,000 and $140,000.

Medical/RX, Dental, and Vision Insurance
All full-time employees are entitled to participate in a Health Benefit Plan after 30 days of employment as elected by the employee for the employee and their dependents.
Health Reimbursement Account
Full-time employees and their dependents who participate in the health benefit plan are entitled to maintain a HRA, Health Reimbursement Account which has been designed to fund the Medical/Rx deductible.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
The City offers its full-time employees the option to contribute to a Flexible Spending Account, an account that an employee may put money into to pay for out-of-pocket health care costs.
Defined Contribution Plan
All full-time employees hired by the City maintain a defined contribution plan to save for retirement. The City contributes 15 percent of the employee's pay, and the employee contributes 1 percent of their gross pay.
457 Deferred Compensation Plan
Full-time employees may obtain a 457 deferred compensation plan. A 457 deferred compensation plan allows employees to save and invest money for retirement with tax benefits.
Full-time employees are offered the opportunity to contribute towards a Roth IRA, a retirement account that employees can fund with post-tax income.
Applicable full-time employees accrue sick leave monthly to compensate the employee when they are off work.
Life and Long Term Disability Insurance
Group term life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance is available to all full-time employees in the amount equal to the employee's annual salary rounded off to the next thousand dollars.
Long term disability is offered to employees after a 90 day grace period.
Full-time employees accrue paid vacation beginning on their date of hire and are eligible to use paid vacation following the completion of their probationary period.
Applicable full-time employees accrue 16 hours of personal leave per fiscal year.

Vacation Purchase Program
Full-time employees may purchase an additional week of vacation during open enrollment.
Vacation Sell Back Program
Full-time employees after 5 years of service may sell back a week of vacation during open enrollment. Full-time employees with at least 10 years of service may sell back two weeks of vacation each year during open enrollment.
Full-time City employees and their immediate family members may take advantage of various discounts offered by the Parks & Recreation Department.
The Employee Assistance Center (EAC) program is offered to employees to assist them with their personal life and offers assistance with including but not limited to family, legal, and financial stress.
