Job Purpose
Are you the Application Engineer we have been looking for? You will help grow the sales of the High Viscosity (HV) Dispense business while technically supporting the sales team and channel partners as an Application Engineer (AE).
Job Description
As an Application Engineer (AE) you will be responsible for providing technical sales support of Sames Kremlin/iNTEC (SKi) Dispense products and solutions. The AE shall become the technical sales support focal to the Dispense Sales Team. The ideal candidate will partner with Sales, Engineering and Lab personnel to support existing customers and prospective new opportunities to help increase the sales of SKi products. The AE shall be able to identify technical solutions and convert into value propositions for customers. The AE will have the capability to assist in all facets of the sales process, from upfront evaluation, conception, product selection, quoting and equipment validation demonstrations to assure a successful customer experience.
Duties/Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
- Serves as a technology advisor to the Sales Team as an internal resource on technical issues or specific applications within the HV Dispense market segment.
- Provides technical leadership to internal staff and customers on a dispense process or application in support of pre-sales activities.
- Acts as technical expert to develop and propose solutions that meet the technology and application requirements of assigned customers.
- Qualifies sales opportunities in the terms of customer requirements, required product/design approach, competition, and pricing.
- Assists in the analysis, design concept and development of proposed dispense solutions.
- Supports technical sales calls.
- Understands Dispense Automation (Robots, PLC, etc.) as they apply to the Industry
- Capable of technical sales presentations to customers in support of the sale effort.
- Maintains a relationship with Material Suppliers to obtain material information and stay current on offerings, trends and technology in the Sealants and Adhesives Marketplace.
- Works with Lab personnel to validate customer requirements in the Lab Demonstration/Equipment Validation process to assure accuracy of proposed sales solution.
- Supports Systems Engineering Team on customer projects to accuracy of customers quoted equipment.
- New product support in the field and in the lab, as it applies to the future sales effort
Essential Qualifications
- Engineering Degree (ME/EE)/Tech School or equivalent job experience
- Must have strong working knowledge of HV dispense application equipment, technologies, and processes
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with dispense equipment/market
- Strong technical/mechanical/electrical aptitude (and pneumatics)
- Knowledge of SAMES KREMLIN/iNTEC products (or similar type of equipment)
- Knowledge of competitive approaches and products
- Sense of marketing and business development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel desired
- Effective communication, presentation, and training skills
- Correct use of forms (internal processes)
- Sense of urgency in responding to business needs
- Holds oneself accountable for actions and results.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills; able to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and all levels of staff
- Must possess good organizational skills.
- Enthusiastic, creative and desire to learn about business and technical topics
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Team player, and willing to help where needed within scope of the role
- Able to travel throughout the US and abroad: Must have valid Passport and Drivers License
Working conditions
- Typical-Office/Demonstration Lab setting
- Other (on occasion)-car, airplane and factory or customer facility.
Physical requirements
The job may be physically demanding at times with long airline trips and factory visits. May be required to
stand for extended periods of time, occasionally lift heavy objects (<50#), swing a wrench, and work at off hours to accommodate customer plant conditions.
