SUMMARY
Provide engineering support to drive continuous improvement and meet daily production objectives. Complete projects, activities and initiatives that impact the achievement of OEE and Yield targets. The Engineering Technician role is a hands-on position that, especially outside of business hours, will be expected to work rather independently to accomplish its projects and tasks, while knowing when and how to escalate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advanced machine troubleshooting. Drive troubleshooting and problem-solving activities when equipment breakdowns and target performance has not been achieved.
- Data analysis and collection. Collects and analyzes data, inspects products and processes, conducts tests, assists with research and development, and records results.
- Provide advanced training to Tech II’s and III’s, including but not limited to developing troubleshooting training guides.
- Document review. Creates, updates and maintains records and files of Work Instructions, Work Standards, PFMEAs, Control Plans, PFDs (Troubleshooting Guide), Quality Alerts, Change Order, OPL (One Point Lessons) and Visual Standards.
- Follow 4M changes.
- Line change-over/verification. Lead line change-overs, verify proper function and quality is met before releasing the line for full production.
- Parameter checks. Confirm line parameters match standards.
- Communication. Initiates and fosters cooperation and communication within and between departments and shifts.
- Achieve KPI’s: OEE, Yield and Project targets.
- Monitor machine operation, diagnose machine/process issues and make machine adjustments.
- Work on continuous process improvements to ensure the line is operating at its designed level at all times.
- Navigate computer and machine programs. Run queries to troubleshoot issues and keep machines running properly.
- Write reports of daily machine activity, machine issues and improvement actions.
- Tests and inspects machines and equipment to assist the engineer in corrective action of production problems.
- Helps develop methods and devices used in the prevention and control of the process.
- Adhere to company, team and safety rules/requirements at all times, including clean room rules and PPE standards.
- Maintain 5S and 3R standards.
- Participate in, and successfully complete, any and all training requirements (including training on 1st shift with Engineers prior to moving to off-shift hours).
- Assist with the training and evaluation of Technical Operators on process changes and updated quality changes.
- Maintain a safe, clean organized and productive work environment that supports the LG Way.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership.
- Lead the FPI (First Production Inspection) process and documentations
- Quality issue monitoring, Root cause finding, corrective action implementation.
- Monitor the SPC system and verify the flags on time.
- Monitor RMS (Recipe Management System), response flags and verify the machine setting on time.
- Manage the hold material (tracking, reviewing, inputting, reflect to yield)
MINIMUM SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Internal: High school diploma or GED required
- External: Associates or relatable technical certification course required.
- Internal: Must have prior experience as Tech III or II + commensurate experience
- External Candidates: 3-5 Years of Manufacturing Experience (preferred)
- Prior experience using hand tools in a manufacturing environment
- Technical troubleshooting experience
- HMI and Vision Systems experience
- Experience using Production data systems
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to help solve technical problems in many ways
- Demonstrated history of regular and reliable on-site attendance
- Basic computer skills are required
- Must be able to use a keyboard, mouse and trackpad, internet browser and perform basic tasks in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Math skills are required
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals with or without the use of a calculator. Statistics and Data analysis with the use of Minitab
- Ability to read and interpret graphs, measurements and drawings
- Ability to communicate and interact well with others within team, cross-functionally, and at varying levels within the business
