Location: Elmira, Michigan SUMMARY Works with operations and maintenance teams to help maintain safe, reliable manufacturing processes. Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for design, planning, organization, control, and integration for the completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through liaison with other engineers, designers, consultants, suppliers, or others as needed. Successful associate interacts daily with all key managers to recognize the need for enhancements and improvements to the facility to assure that the site remains competitive and current with the latest available technology. Will include revisions and improvements to existing equipment and systems, as well as the development and installation of new capital investments to assure the site operates at the most efficient levels possible. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Provide advanced troubleshooting of manufacturing system including hydraulic and mechanical systems that contain electrical components. * Maintain equipment and process documentation, such as test/calibration procedures, maintenance checklists and disassembly and repair instructions. * Use production data to drive and implement process improvements. * Support implementation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, such as specification and selection of basic test and assembly equipment, developing and implementing equipment maintenance and calibration procedures and repairing and maintaining assembly. * Review equipment failures, to identify common failure modes and issues of a systemic nature. Characterize failures and resolve recurring problems through mistake-proofing. * As needed, work with suppliers to correct problems or initiate improvements in accordance with manufacturability, cost, and reliability improvement projects. * Provide troubleshooting training to the maintenance team. * Formulates engineering solutions to problems and develops plans according to project requirements. This may involve technical studies, calculations, and research. * Prepares specifications and designs. Shares concepts and details with Foundry staff and affected supervisors, leaders, and employees. * Consults with and receives proposals and quotes from contractors and suppliers. * Coordinates activities of contractors, maintenance, and production personnel to efficiently complete projects. * Prepares drawings, time schedules, written descriptions and instructions for the operation and maintenance of equipment and systems. * Evaluates/ troubleshoots existing processes to reduce costs and improve quality. * Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.
