We're looking to add an experienced Event Sales Manager to the team at The High Five GR, our premier event venue located in downtown Grand Rapids. "Old world meets new" in this gorgeous loft space with original hardwood roller rink floors, exposed brick, artisan tile, and extraordinary chandeliers. In this role, you'll work with customers from the event inquiry through the planning and execution process. You'll be the primary contact for all client inquiries relating to the space, for consultations with clients about event details to ensure it runs smoothly, for prospecting new sales, and for managing revenue documentation.
The Position:
- Works in tandem with the Venue and Sales Manager to provide a five-star experience from start to finish.
- Envisions the big picture and meets objectives in all stages of event planning, design, and production.
- Drafts contracts and agreements to facilitate execution with clients, vendors, etc., to secure events, programs, activities, and materials.
- Develops and manages financial logistics for events, including budgets, and monitors expenditures during the planning process and assessment of event space needs.
- Meets with prospective clients to showcase the event space as needed.
- Assists the Venue and Sales Manager with marketing efforts for the High Five as an event venue, including blog ideas, posts for real time pictures to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media outlets, and requests the use of photographer pictures from each event.
- Stays current with wedding and event trends, including attending various bridal shows and networking events.
- Maintains an in-depth understanding and productive utilization of event software (Tripeseat and AllSeated).
- Cultivates partnerships to sell event space and maintains partnerships over time to promote repeat business.
- Works with The High Five leadership team to research and identify opportunities for business growth.
- Works with the Venue and Sales Manager to develop quarterly goals to reach yearly revenue goals.
- Assists with pricing reviews.
- Assists the accounting team with client invoicing, payments, security deposit returns, event closeout, and reporting for financial and review purposes.
- Attends and/or coordinate the rehearsal, final meeting, and event.
- Works closely with the Event Operations Manager to create detailed vendor timelines, layouts, and event setup, execution, and teardown.
- Proactively troubleshoots and resolves emerging problems prior to and on the day of the event.
- Trains, educates, and schedules team members.
- Assists with event setup, such as placing chairs, linens, furniture adjustments, taping cords, pushing carts, audio/video, etc.
- Assists with developing additional event packages to build revenue.
- Works with the Event Operations Manager to develop vendor relationships.
- Assists the High Five leadership team with interviews, onboarding of new hires, and the training and scheduling of Coordinators, Event Staff, and Interns.
- Leads, trains, and assigns daily tasks to Coordinators, Event Staff, and Interns to ensure seamless events.
- Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
