SUMMARY The Pain Rehabilitation Program at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is growing -- and we're seeking an outstanding pediatric psychologist to join our interdisciplinary team. The pediatric psychologist will work with children and adolescents and their caregivers in our developing pediatric pain program while also seeing adult patients in our established rehabilitation program. Our behaviorally-based outpatient program emphasizes functional restoration using an acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) approach. Our goal is to help improve the lives of people who are coping with chronic pain conditions, including back pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, and other pain issues. The interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation team consists of psychologists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Each patient typically spends 10-12 weeks in our program, during which they work with the interdisciplinary team toward a common goal of improving functioning despite chronic pain. All team members engage in active collaboration, including formal and informal meetings regarding patient treatment. In addition to delivering individual psychotherapy to the identified pediatric patient, the pediatric psychologist role involves parent education, support and training as well as collaboration with other relevant stakeholders in the patient's life (e.g., school personnel). The Pain Rehabilitation Program currently has sites in Troy, Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo, and Traverse City, with plans for future growth throughout Michigan. This has led to a multi-site network of pain psychologists who collaborate and share resources. With a focus on positive outcomes through evidence-based practice and the delivery of quality clinical care, we collect information using multiple tools throughout the course of a patient's care. Our data indicate that patients who complete the program, on average, report significantly decreased pain-related impairment, improved quality of life, reduced depression and anxiety symptoms, decreased pain catastrophizing, and improved pain acceptance and self-efficacy. Program data also shows significantly decreased opioid pain medication use. You can learn more about our program at: Https:// Mary Free Bed offers:
